Emotional intelligence as a key to success
Wicher Schols' classes include team coaching, communication, personal coaching and executive coaching at The School of Life. His trainings focus on the development of emotional intelligence. He challenges people to take a good look at themselves and understand themselves better. According to Wicher, emotional intelligence is the basis for connection - both with yourself and with others. In this episode, he dives deeper into the power of self-awareness, discovering patterns in our behavior and how they can help us grow. "If you know yourself, you can also connect well with others and thereby make a valuable contribution to your work and to the world. We need emotional intelligence to increase our self-awareness."
Self-awareness as a source of change
When employees in a team have high emotional intelligence, they can work better together. After all, those who understand themselves well can better understand another. "It starts with understanding how you are put together and what you trigger in another person," he says. So the first step is to increase self-awareness so that people get to know themselves better. All the resulting insights are the source of change, which is a long-term process. This requires openness and self-confidence. "Do you have the self-confidence to do things differently than you are used to?", Wicher asks in the podcast.
