WHAT'S GOING ON IN
THE AREA OF
SUSTAINABLE DEPLOYMENT

Employer, stop logging hours for once!

Clocking in in the morning and clocking out with each break and when you leave; this is still the norm at many organizations. The reason: then employers can see if everyone is meeting contract hours. Then it is seen as a bonus when employees go the extra mile and work overtime. But when the progress review is around the corner, the cat is out of the bag. Despite the fact that the employee has met the contract hours, and even worked more than required, it turns out that they are still rated as underperforming. So what is the point of recording the (excess) hours?

The evaluation interview

Of course, it is quite understandable that in some industries there is no other way than to record hours. Think of industries where work is done in shifts or where the number of hours to be worked per day is not fixed. However, this leaves many industries and positions where it is not "mandatory" to record hours, especially if it does not count during the evaluation interview.

As an example, take two colleagues who work in the same department, both 40 hours a week and with the same set of tasks. One colleague has completed the tasks after 4 hours of work every day and spends the rest of the day waiting he or she can go home. The other colleague works overtime almost every day because the work is not finished. How do the evaluation interviews go in this case? Is the colleague who works fewer hours, but is productive, held accountable for this by the employer?

Focus on trust and autonomy

At paraDIGMA groep , we stopped counting hours a long time ago. In fact, we never have. Recording hours often leads to a false focus on the number of hours worked, rather than on the quality of work and results achieved. At paraDIGMA groep , we believe that trust and autonomy are essential to employee motivation. By giving them space to organize work in their own way and at their own pace, we encourage personal leadership and create a healthy Organizational culture.

Win-win situation for the employer and employee

So, employers, stop clinging to the timekeeping system. Seize the opportunity to create a culture that revolves around trust. Give your employees the freedom to do what they do best. This not only leads to happy employees, but also to higher productivity. A win-win situation for both employer and employees!

Develop a healthy Organizational culture

At paraDIGMA groep , we place great importance on creating a healthy Organizational culture. One way we do this is by not recording hours and giving employees as much autonomy as possible, but it goes much further than that.
