Bart de Ruijter tells what is like to work at Humaris

Working at Humaris is diverse and challenging. We work hard, but there is always room for a good time together. All colleagues in the Application Management team complement each other well, creating a certain chemistry. Bart de Ruijter has been working at Humaris for 6 years now as Functional Application Administrator and is still learning new things every day. His team now consists of four people and their common goal is to serve customers as well and efficiently as possible.

Bart himself worked at a service desk for some time, he knows better than anyone how to work together with various teams. However, he was ready for a new step and ended up at Humaris .

Bart: "Through a secondment agency I worked at a service desk for a while. I was ready for a new challenge and via internet I came across the vacancy of 'Functional Application Administrator' at Argo Advies (now Humaris, part of paraDIGMA groep). The vacancy stated that you would get a lot of responsibility and that there were opportunities to grow. You were also given an important task; coordinating the linking of the customer's HR systems with the absence system of The Occupational Health and Safety Service. This didn't stop me from applying! Now 6 years later, I'm still there".

What does your average day look like?

Bart: "No day is the same and that's what makes it so much fun! I have a lot of contact with customers, both internal and external. I solve certain problems and/or think about how certain links can be established. I also consult a lot with our service desk. We like to share our knowledge among ourselves, so that they too can answer direct questions from customers. In this way we help each other with complex issues and activities".

As Functional Application Manager you manage the current absence system and you are the contact person for the customer in the field of (new) links. Bart must ensure that existing and new customers can perform their work properly in the system 'paraDIGMA online'. He and his team must also ensure that this service runs smoothly.

Bart: "I had to get very used to my new position. I was actually thrown into the deep end from the beginning. You would think that this is not good, but I think I learned a lot because of this. I had to do my own research and learned to ask the right questions if I couldn't figure something out. I can now answer most questions from clients and colleagues with my knowledge gained. I also got the chance to do a training that suited my position, this helped me by thinking even more analytically and being able to talk and exchange ideas with supplier programmers, for example. Over the years I also got to know customers which helped me build a business network"

What does your potential ideal colleague look like?

Bart: "The strength of our team is the chemistry we have and that we dare to speak out to each other when things are or are not going well. Thanks to the knowledge that everyone has, we complement each other well where necessary. In my team there are only ideal colleagues. If you are energetic and communicative and have an open personality, you will fit right in."
