Take charge with personal leadership

How you feel, inside and outside of work, depends largely on how you are in life. Do you eat healthy, do you go to bed on time, do you smoke? But also: are you still enjoying yourself at work, are you taking responsibility, are you willing to change in order to move forward? All the questions answer the level of grip a person has on his or her life. This level is of great influence on the sustainable employability within the organization.

Definition for personal leadership

When we talk about personal leadership it is about taking control of your own life. Despite the fact that life is often split into two parts, work and private life, for personal leadership these two have a lot of influence on each other. It is also about how happy you are and whether you dare to make the choices and take the steps to become (even) happier. Does your job no longer suit you? Then chances are that outside of work this will also bother you. The same applies vice versa. But as long as the employee does not change anything, the problem will not go away.

Personal leadership within the organization

If the employee is no longer in his or her place, job satisfaction drops, the employee is less inspired or productive and is more likely to be absent from work. As an organization, you naturally want an employee to raise the alarm in time so that you can find a solution together. This does require the employee to take steps to report it to the supervisor or HR. With a healthy corporate culture , the employee experiences the freedom to indicate this without feeling that he or she is disadvantaged for it.
