Help! My work happiness is out of balance!

Vital people have more job happiness; this is well known to most by now. Indeed, healthy and happy employees often find the right path in the organization, seek autonomy for themselves and receive the right functional and social support. Appreciation from the employer and the healthy workload are important here! The right balance between the busy working life and a fun, safe and healthy home situation is the most optimal picture. But what if this "optimal picture" suddenly doesn't seem so optimal anymore? What if the match between the employee and the work is lost?

Then it's time to take action, both for the employee and the employer! What is causing this? Does the work still suit the employee? Does an employee still get energy out of his work, or does it only cost the employee energy?

An employee who is not (no longer) in his or her place in the organization is more likely to be demotivated and deliver lower quality. Moreover, an employee is more likely to make the choice to leave or even worse; the employee does not name the problem and continues to work until it is no longer possible. This can have major consequences for the employee's health.

Time for Optios!

Not a pleasant situation; for both the employee and the employer. Within paraDIGMA groep Optios is the expert in the field of track 2 and 3 guidance and development projects. The consultants often have to deal with situations where there is no match between the work and the employee. Our Optios consultant once met Martijn. Martijn was 40 years old and trained as a Chemical Analyst. After working for his employer for 15 years, he dropped out due to burnout complaints.

How Martijn regained his job satisfaction

"Optios helped me a lot to gain more insight into myself. In fact, together with the consultant I had intensive conversations and carried out several assignments. As a result, it gradually became clear to me that my current workplace could no longer offer me what I needed."

"I was given the opportunity, under the guidance of Optios, to look around for other opportunities. Through intensive discussions and guidance, it quickly became clear what a new job for me had to satisfy in order to become really happy in my work. Optios advised me to confide in a number of people from my surroundings and network and to approach them; perhaps this would result in a good opportunity. And indeed I got that opportunity: I now work as a Product Manager, which I am very happy with! It is a broad job with a lot of variety and many contacts. I make sure that the product is workable in practice and guarantee quality. In this position I have found what I am looking for and that does me very well."

"My new job gives me so much joy! My energy level has increased dramatically because the job aligns with work values that are important to me. In addition, but also very important, I get appreciation and feel useful again. This has boosted my self-esteem. I think this is important for many people with symptoms of overwork or burnout: knowing and experiencing that you do matter to society and that you have a lot to offer. A suitable job is very important, even if at the beginning of a track 2 trajectory you don't yet realize it all and at first you don't really want to leave your employer."

"I liked Optios' approach, personal and confidential. The consultant who guided me was always available via email, phone and app. This made me not feel like a number, but I felt personal commitment and a warm connection."

The guidance of Optios

Optios actively engages with employees and employers to see where opportunities exist in the employee's job responsibilities or, if necessary, with another employer. Optios also helps the employee to take control, because he or she is responsible for his or her own career.
