Different Thinking Podcast #12 with Dr. Marcia Goddard
Dr. Marcia Goddard translates 'brain knowledge' down-to-earth and practical to the workplace. How do you handle behavior under pressure? Can a Organizational culture be built? And is absenteeism not just a medical problem, but also a management opportunity?
Dr. Goddard advocates for more brain knowledge for HR professionals, executives and managers. In fact, according to Goddard, brain knowledge has a healthy impact on absenteeism.
'Mental illness is still seen as the employee's problem in too many organizations. I disagree, because mental absenteeism is (too) often a consequence of being sick Organizational culture. That difference, between a healthy and unhealthy Organizational culture, is in psychological safety. If that is missing, absenteeism is often a logical consequence. Fortunately, a Organizational culture can change. Therefore, see absenteeism not only as a medical problem, but also as a management opportunity.'
